Sworn translation: the per-page rate
Sworn translation is billed per page rather than per word, because the court-listed translator takes responsibility for the whole document.
€60 to €100 per page, excl. VAT
The price varies depending on the language, the number of pages in the project and how much text each page carries. A dense page from a transcript or a judgment costs more than a sparse civil-status certificate.
1–3 business days
Lead time depends on the language and the number of pages. An apostille adds its own administrative delay, outside our control.
What is included
- Translation by a translator listed as an expert with a Court of Appeal
- Stamp, signature and statement of conformity
- Scanned PDF by email, then the paper original by post
- Checking the receiving body’s known requirements with you
What is not
- Apostille and legalisation, issued by public authorities
- Obtaining the source document from the issuing administration
- Express or international postage, quoted separately
- Layout work on complex documents, charged separately
How much does it cost…
Three worked examples, with the calculation shown and the assumptions stated. The quote is firm once we have read your files.
A 10-page contract, English to French
from €440 excl. VAT
4,000 source words × €0.11 = €440
Assumes about 400 words per page, standard contractual content, ordinary lead time. Not a sworn translation.
A 5,000-word website, French to English
from €550 excl. VAT
5,000 source words × €0.11 = €550
Assumes editorial content without transcreation, excluding technical integration and in-context review after go-live.
A sworn birth certificate
€60 to €100 excl. VAT
One page, billed at the per-page rate
Assumes a one-page full copy in a common language. Apostille not included — request it from the competent authority.
What makes the price vary
Content technicality
A contract, medical leaflet or technical documentation requires a specialised translator: the rate is adjusted accordingly and stated in the quote.
Volume & repetitions
Repetitions and previously translated segments, detected by our CAT tools, are charged at a reduced rate: the larger or more recurrent your documents, the lower the average per-word price.
Requested deadline
Express delivery (24–72h) mobilises several translators in parallel and carries a surcharge, always announced before commitment.
Associated services
DTP layout (InDesign, PowerPoint), sworn certification, subtitling or enhanced review are priced separately and itemised line by line in the quote.
Worked example
Translating a standard 2,000-word document from English into French costs from €220 excl. VAT (2,000 words × €0.11). The same document into Japanese costs from €380 excl. VAT (2,000 × €0.19). Send your files for an exact figure: the quote is free and the announced price is firm.
